Laura brings over 13 years of technology marketing experience to the STEM Discoveries team. As the Marketing Director, Laura offers expertise from promoting some of the most influential technology solutions in the world to provide marketing outreach for the organization.
For nearly a decade, Laura managed marketing efforts for SmartSynch, a global technology leader for cellular-based smart grid communications. SmartSynch was known as a pioneer in the build-out of America’s smart grid. When Smartsynch sold to Itron in 2012, Laura then supported global marketing efforts for the electricity business at Itron, a world-leading technology and services company dedicated to the resourceful use of energy and water.
Over the last four years, Laura has served as the Vice President of Marketing for Mississippi-based business technology provider Fuse.Cloud, a leader in Voice over IP (VoIP) industry. In 2018, Laura formed The Small Town Creative to channel her inner entrepreneur and help serve other thriving businesses with branding, websites and social media management.
Laura graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in Communication Studies (emphasis in Public Relations) from Mississippi College. She also earned a master of arts degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Alabama.
Laura is currently on the leadership team for Downtown Thursday, a summer series in Downtown Laurel that includes a Farmers Market, live music and a Downtown Movie Night. In 2016, Laura served as the executive director of TeamJXN, a community effort to drive positive momentum Jackson, Mississippi. Laura has been selected one of the "Top 50 Women in Business" and the "Top 50 under 40" by the Mississippi Business Journal (MBJ).
Laura is a 2010 graduate of Leadership Greater Jackson (LGJ), a program of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership, where she served on the Board of Directors as the marketing chairperson for four years. Laura also served on the Board of Directors for the Young Professionals Alliance (YPA) of Jackson for five years.
Laura and her husband Jay live in Laurel, where he serves as the worship pastor at Agape Church. They have one son named Levi.
